Kids Are Reaching Kids: Connecticut

Kids Reaching Kids Across an Ocean

A small Awana T&T (Truth & Training) club in Connecticut is making a huge impact around the globe. When the redemption value of cans and bottles went up to 10 cents in their area, this scrappy group of 3rd through 6th-graders saw an opportunity, and the slogan “Ten Cans = One Missionary Dollar!” was born. With help from their Awana leaders, the boys and girls collected cans and bottles in their community and raised $650 to start biblical Awana programs at a school in Ghana! That amount will fund training, curriculum materials and follow-up training that will sustain the Ghana ministry for years to come.

One goal met, more underway.

When kids see the difference they can make, it fuels their resolve to keep trying. That same T&T group has now raised an additional $500 to help missionaries in Peru rebuild a church wall that was damaged by an automobile accident. And they’re still going! The club is now more than halfway toward their goal of $500 for a church in Beirut, Lebanon. The $500 they raise will not only help share the Gospel, but will aid in providing much-needed basic assistance, like drinking water, for refugees affected by war.

Service to people in other countries isn’t just for grownups; these kids are living proof that children are powerful disciplemakers in their own right, and that when their hearts are focused on doing His work, anything is possible.

If you’d like to learn more about how your church, your community group or your family can be the hands and feet of Jesus, too, we invite you to explore our Kids Reaching Kids page. There’s amazing work to be done out there and right here.
