This month’s prayer blog was written by Lauren Milkowski, Awana donor marketing specialist. She writes about how to handle a prayer experience all of us have had.

Patient Prayer in a Season of Silence

During seasons of success and joy, our prayer life is vibrant and grateful. Throughout trials and sorrow, our prayer life is steady and dependent. But what if we have been consistently praying for answers, for guidance, for healing, for divine wisdom and receive no clarity from God? Some may begin to doubt He is listening, that He cares, that He is shepherding our steps. Frustrations can escalate, and the practice of time in prayer can dwindle.

I find myself reflecting about how we are quick to forget all of the ways God has shown faithfulness and each prayer He has answered throughout our lives when we are not given an immediate answer. God’s timing is perfect. God’s plan for your life is perfect. God is perfect in His actions.

In an age where we are used to instant gratification, we have to develop patience. Not only does Scripture confirm God hears our prayers, but even better: He turns His ear towards us! Psalm 27:14 encourages followers in this way: Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! God is always at work in our lives, and sometimes He is orchestrating things for our good without our knowledge. Just wait on Him, for He is reliable and is faithful. So, brothers and sisters, I want to encourage you to continue praying through the silence. Your questions are being heard by your heavenly Father, and He will provide the answers at precisely the right moment.
