Leader Award System and Training Tracker

Training Tracker is the Web-based system that enables commanders and leaders to record all the training and ministry experience they’ve completed. Leader accomplishments are measured in Rorheim Institute Units (RIUs).

Training Tracker can be found on the Awana Resources and Tools (ART) Web site. ART is a password-protected Web site that gives Awana leaders exclusive access to training materials, new resources and fresh ideas.

Awana leaders can earn awards too, just like clubbers and students. The total number of Rorheim Institute Units (RIUs) earned on Training Tracker can be displayed as pins on their club name badges. All leaders begin their Awana ministry wearing a black club lanyard. As you earn more RIUs, you earn the right to wear the bronze, silver, gold and platinum lanyards.

What is an RIU?
“RIU” stands for Rorheim Institute Unit. It is a unit that Awana uses to measure training. It is named after Awana Co-Founder Art Rorheim, and his commitment to leader training.

How is the value of an RIU determined?
Awana determines the number of RIUs based on complexity of the training, time required and effort involved.

How are RIUs earned?
Through participation in training courses, including completing handbooks, finishing Basic Training, attending conferences, serving in Awana and so much more.
