Hitting the Mark is a two-and-a-half day training experience designed for pastors, children's ministry leaders and teams who desire to launch a strong Awana club.
What Can Hitting the Mark Do for You and Your Ministry?
Awana helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. Our ministries offer a proven approach for evangelizing and discipling kids in the church and community.
Hitting the Mark will:
- Create passionate, committed advocates for your Awana ministry
- Prepare you to effectively run club
- Equip you to teach Getting Started to your leaders
Who Should Attend Hitting the Mark?
Hitting the Mark equips key ministry leaders from your church to launch Awana. It is recommended that 3-4 representatives attend including a staff member or ministry leader. Participants should have an interest in children's ministry and be willing and able to train new Awana volunteers in your church.
The Heart Behind Hitting the Mark
For over 60 years, the heartbeat of Awana has remained committed to God's Word and centered on His gospel. Our single-minded, earnest prayer is that all children and youth throughout the world will come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our target is the Old Testament figure of Joseph who remained faithful to God in a pagan culture despite trails and temptation. We aim for this target with a comprehensive strategy for chilldren and youth, age two to 18.
We are committed to serving and supporting churches so that our prayer becomes a reality. And as it does, we believe your church, and churches all over the world, will be "Hitting the Mark" in ministry.

Hear what participants are saying about Hitting the Mark:
"This training gave us great perspective on the potential to reach children in our community. The simplicity of the ministry and its principles made taking the next steps much less overwhelming."
"We brought several leaders to Hitting the Mark and each one took on a role to train leaders back home. This experience helped me not feel alone or that we were starting children's ministry from scratch."
"The kids at our new club are so excited about learning God's Word and now the parents want to get involved too!"
